1. What happens to an employment application once submitted?

Applications are immediately sent to the department manager with the vacancy. The applications are reviewed and after several weeks, interviews are scheduled with the most suitable candidates for the position, based on experience and qualifications that best meet the job offered. Once interviews are completed and a selection is made, candidates who were interviewed and not selected are thanked for their interest and advised of the job being filled. Those applicants who have signed up for the Notify Me option on this website will also receive email notification of the job being filled and of any new jobs that may become available.

1. How often is household waste picked up?

Yard waste and recyclables are picked up once per week on Wednesday. Household garbage is picked up once per week on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday, the days varying by location.

1. How do I reserve a park facility?

Facility Reservation Form: A reservation form must be completed, accompanied by any payment due. It is strongly suggested you email parks@Inverness.gov or dial (352) 726-3913 first, to ensure the facility is available.

1. Who should be contacted if a sidewalk is damaged, small road problem or other nonemergency is noticed?

Parking violations within the city limits of Inverness are processed by the Finance Department. Moving violations or tickets are resolved at the Citrus County Clerk of Courts office.

1. When is my water/sewer bill due?

It is due upon receipt and you have until 5:00 PM on the 20th of the month before late fees are applied.

2. Why is my bill so high?

This could be caused by many different things such as a leak, lawn watering, filling a pool or extra people in the house.

3. How much is the late fee and can it be waived?

The late fee is a flat rate of $15.00 and no the fee can not be waived.

4. My neighbor's bill is not as high as mine?

Not every household uses the same amount of water. They may only have water service with their own septic system.They may not use an irrigation system.There are less people in the house.They don't have a pool.

5. Why don't I have any water?

Has someone turned the main valve off? There may be a water main break. Is your bill current, if not it may have been shut-off for a past due amount. The previous owner/tenant discontinued service and you will have to fill out a water/sewer contract for service in your name.

6. Why do I have to fix the pipes and/or leaks in my yard? Isn't that the utilities responsibility?

We are responsible for the main line all the way to the curb stop. The customer is responsible from the curb stop to the residence and all problems that stem from there.

7. How can I find out what's in my water?

Every year the city publishes an annual water quality report. The report gives the results of the tests it does in order to make sure your water meets federal and state drinking water regulations.

8. Why do I have brown water?

Water usually looks brown when there is maintenance being done on the lines, when a fire hydrant is broken or there is a break in a water line. Usually the water is brown for a short time and you should not drink it until it clears. You can speed up the process of removing the brown water from your pipes by running all your faucets for a few minutes. If the water is still not clear, then do the same thing again every half hour. The problem should go away within 2-4 hours.

9. What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept cash, check, money order, credit and debit cards. You have the option of signing up for direct debit, which will automatically deduct the amount from your checking or savings account.

10. Will I be charged for water/sewer when I fill my pool?

Yes, you will be charged for all water usage. Sewer usage is capped at 15,000 gallons for residential customers only.
