COVID Update March 23: City closes parks


Inverness, FLA – Inverness City Hall is open 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. in the lobby only. The City has closed all other city buildings and city parks at this time. Please call the City at (352) 726-2611 to request city services and to interact with city government. Please avoid coming to City Hall whenever possible. The City is continuing to provide normal services such as water, sewer, public works projects, building permits, public safety, and City Administration. The City’s residential trash collection system has been running smoothly and is preparing for the increased demands due to more waste being created in the home. There may be some short delays in yard waste and bulk collection in the coming weeks. 

In keeping with state and local park closings, the City has closed its parks to further encourage social distancing. Inverness parks and trails: 

  • Whispering Pines Park, 1700 Forest Drive •Depot District, 300 Apopka Ave. 
  • Liberty Park and Liberty Trail, 286 Apopka Ave. 
  • Wallace Brooks Park, 328 E. Dampier Street 
  • Cooter Pond and satellite parks 
  • Withlacoochee State Trail (all state parks are closed as of today) 

Closed city buildings: 

  • Inverness Visitor Center, 203 E. Dampier Street 
  • Valerie Theatre, 207 E. Courthouse Square
  • Whispering Pines Park offices
