The 2023 COVE Inverness Christmas boat parade is quickly approaching. Included in this correspondence is everything you need to know to help promote or participate in this year's event.
COVE / Inverness Christmas Boat Parade is held in conjunction with and is a part of the Inverness Light Up the Lake Festivities which are traditionally held around Sunset, the first Saturday in December each year in Liberty Park.
This boat parade is organized by The COVE Resort and Pub, and anyone's participation is strictly voluntary. The COVE has been a fundamental part of Central Citrus County and the Inverness area for decades and has coordinated the boat parade every year. We are honored to be part of this grass roots community event that is a collaborative effort between the city, community residents and local businesses!
HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW.
#1 The Boat staging area will be the small basin just WEST of the Lake Henderson/Hwy 44 Boat Ramp.
#2 Boat Captain may start arriving at the Staging area any time after 4:00pm December 2,
# 3 Boat Captains should look for and check in with Kemper Willcut who will be driving The COVE's "Wing it One" Pontoon Boat. "Wing it One" will have FLASHING EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON TOP, so it should be easy to locate.
#4 Promptly at 5:45pm Kemper will blow a LOUD HORN indicating that the parade is about to start.
#5 "THIS PART IS A BIG DEAL" Boat Captains are to RANDOMLY fall in line behind "Wing it One" and keep a steady speed and distance between boats, of no more than 5 boat lengths and no less than 3.
KEEPING A CONSISTANT SPEED AND DISTANCE between boats is VERY CRITICAL to the success of the parade!
DON'T LAG BEHIND!!
#6 The parade will follow "Wing it One" on TWO SLOW CIRCUITS of the Wallace Brooks/Liberty Park Basin
#7 After the second circuit all boats are welcome to follow "Wing it One" as we skirt the Gospel Island Shoreline, past Prichard Island and on to The COVE for an after party. Please remember that the lake levels are low. We don't want anyone getting in trouble.
THAT'S IT! BE SAFE! HAVE FUN! CONTACT KEMPER WITH QUESTIONS!
