Residential Garbage Collection

Residential Garbage Collection Fee

Your same quality and reliable service will continue as it has been. This includes one garbage collection day and one recycling collection day each week. City residential trash is collected efficiently with an automated side loader truck.

Dear City Residential Garbage Service Customers:

Note: this does not apply to county residents who reside outside the city limits of Inverness and this fee does not impact commercial customers.

The City of Inverness will begin implementing a monthly fee of $9.85 for October residential garbage collection that will appear on the September 2020 utility bill. The program commences in October 2020. This service is billed in advance each month.

Earlier this year, ordinance 2020-750 was passed to start this fee collection, and new line on your utility bill has been added for this fee. For non-utility customers there will be an option to receive one annual bill in the amount of $118.20 to eliminate receiving a bill every month.

Your same quality and reliable service will continue as it has been. This includes one garbage collection day and one recycling collection day each week. City residential trash is collected efficiently with an automated side loader truck.

This fee was not billed separately in the past. The City had previously absorbed the cost of garbage collection and disposal through property taxes. This was not sustainable as program costs continue to rise. The fee being implemented is almost 70 percent less than fees that non-City residents pay private haulers for the twice weekly garbage and recycling services currently available to City residents.

If you have questions about your utility bill, please contact the City of Inverness at (352) 726-5016.
