Bicycle Master Plan
With a $50,000 grant from the Florida Department of Transportation, the City has embarked on developing a Bicycle Master Plan and has hired a professional consultant (Kimley- Horn and Associates) which will identify a network of streets that offer bicycle and pedestrian facilities. The plan will provide a project priority list to identify access to existing or planned schools, existing parks or multi use trails, existing or planned activity centers (i.e. major shopping centers, downtown Central Business District, hospital and medical facilities, neighborhoods, etc.) and connections to bus stops and future transit hubs. All of the planning efforts will help the City become designated as a “Bicycle Friendly Community”.

Dampier Street Improvement Project
Construction is almost complete on the Dampier Street/CDBG Phase III Downtown Redevelopment Project. This streetscape project continues the downtown redevelopment effort by re-building Dampier Street from N. Apopka Avenue east to Wallace Brooks Park. The project will update the underground infrastructure (storm sewer and water lines) and add 27 parking spaces to the downtown area. Pospiech Contracting was awarded the bid by City Council on December 1, 2009. The anticipated completion date is May 30, 2010 with the official ribbon cutting in June.

Neighborhood Names
With the help of local residents, the City has undertaken a project to document the history of the neighborhoods comprising Inverness. We are studying historical archives, photos, newspaper articles and other records relative to the locale, as well as surveying citizens. If an area is identified as never having a name, logistics or characteristics, along with history, will likely generate some of the names for these neighborhoods. In the future, it is intended to pursue signage for each neighborhood along with complimenting landscaping to create “gateways” into the City.

Wastewater Collection System Modeling
Hoyle Tanner and Associates is in the beginning stages of a wastewater modeling of the City, whereas the City requires a computer-based, hydraulic model of the City's wastewater collection system. When completed the model will be used to develop a projection of future wastewater collection system demands and the impacts of future expected development and expansion.

Pool Complex Shade Structures
Three shade structures are slated for installation on the pool deck. These shade structures will consist of two 10' x 30' structures for the main deck and one 10' x 15' structure will be installed in the toddler pool deck area. Also, two similar shade structures will be installed over the spectator bleachers on Athletic Field B. Work is scheduled to be completed by the end of August.

Softball Field Fence Replacement
The softball field at Whispering Pines Park has a new fence.  The fence protects visitors from those home run hits that the players love to hit!  Ongoing fence replacement keeps the fencing in good repair.   In an effort to reduce costs, only the fencing material is replaced, the posts that were installed with the old fencing remain in place.

N Apopka Ball Field Fence Replacement
The fence at the North Apopka ball field will be replaced to prevent hard hit baseballs from damaging cars in the parking area.  The fencing will also keep pedestrians and spectators safe.  Fencing is the best form of protection at any baseball game.
