Being Neighborly
Besides a genuine smile, hello or handshake, being neighborly includes kindness and consideration of fellow residents. In order to keep Inverness friendly and safe, the City has established guidelines for certain activities. Please continue the Inverness tradition of being neighborly by observing the City Code of Ordinances

Home Renovations
If you are considering an addition of a shed, pool, fence or other major change to your residence, you should contact our Development Services Department at (352) 726-3401, to see if permitting or notifications are required for the renovation.

Yard or Garage Sale Etiquette
Out with the old and in with the new may mean a garage or yard sale is in your future. If that's the case, we want to help make your sale more successful.

If your sale is to be held within the City limits, a permit is required at no charge. View the Yard Sales page to apply for a permit online and to read about additional guidelines for running a sale.

Complaints
No one likes to complain about others but there may be a time when you observe a residence that is not being properly maintained or is in violation of a City Ordinance.  Obviously, the best way to solve this issue is to talk to the resident; however, this method may not be successful.

If you believe that a member of the Inverness community is in noncompliance of a City ordinance, you may voice your concern to the Development Services Department.   If the issue is with a neighbor's pet or local wildlife, depending on the situation, the state or county can provide assistance.
