Inverness Grand Prix Festival
A unique event that grows in size and family fun each year, so we've added Friday night activities to rev things up a bit. It's a pre-party on Friday night, where we Rock the Block with live music, a special Friday Night Thunder car show by the Citrus County Mopar Club and more surprises. Parking & admission is free.
On Saturday, find out what the buzz is all about, as the quiet streets of downtown Inverness come alive and are transformed into a challenging kart racing track for Grand Prix races. Certainly not for the skid-ish, it's a one-of-a-kind event, drawing kart racing enthusiasts from all over Florida. Practice heats start in the morning, with “serious” class racing beginning around noon. Visit the Pit area and pick your favorite kart to cheer them on. Races will be announced to keep you informed of kart positions, regardless of your track location. In between races, entertainment will be provided. Bleacher type seating will be available for those who may want to settle in and stay awhile. There will also be plenty of room to set up portable chairs.
On Main Street you will find vendors, classic cars, kid’s activities, music and more. It’s a little bit of fun for everyone-especially the price, as general admission is free. Some special areas, such as the Kart Pit areas may require a small donation for entry. Proceeds will be donated to Filter Youth Development.
Brought to you by these awesome sponsors: Waste Management, Nick Nicholas Ford & Lincoln of Crystal River, Citrus 95.3, Insight Credit Union, The Ice Cream Doctor, Great Bay Distributors, Tobacco Free Florida, Citrus County Chronicle and 96.7 The Fox.
So plan to make a day of it in Inverness and bring the whole family. Enjoy the Grand Prix and Main Street activities, stroll to the City parks only blocks away or visit one of the many local restaurants during your visit.
