Inverness Grand Prix
Find out what the buzz is all about, as the quiet streets of downtown Inverness become alive and are transformed into a challenging kart racing track during the annual Inverness Grand Prix. Certainly not for the skid-ish, it's a one-of-a-kind event, drawing kart racing enthusiasts from all over Florida. Take a spin and see what it's all about.
A free and fun event, practice heats start in the morning, with “serious” class racing beginning around noon. Visit the Pit area and pick your favorite kart to cheer them on. A race announcer will keep you informed of kart positions, regardless of your track location. Bleacher type seating will be available for those who may want to settle in and stay awhile. There will also be plenty of room to set up portable chairs.
On Main Street you will find vendors, classic cars, kid’s activities, music and more. It’s a little bit of fun for everyone-especially the price, as general admission is free. Some areas, such as the Kart Pit areas and bleacher seating may require a small donation for entry. Proceeds go to help the Boys & Girls Club of Citrus County.
Brought to you by the Affordable Kart Club, the Ice Cream Doctor of Inverness and local business sponsors, it is a free event.....great as a family outing!
So plan to make a day of it in Inverness and bring the whole family. Enjoy the Grand Prix and Main Street activities, stroll to the City parks only blocks away or visit one of the many local restaurants during your visit.
