Liberty Park is located on the banks of beautiful Lake Henderson, offering visitors the use of walkways, picnic pavilions, tables, grills, benches and sand volleyball courts.

Liberty Trail is a linear boardwalk connecting Liberty Park and Wallace Brooks Park, meandering through hammocks of Cypress trees between Lake Henderson and the Withlacoochee State Trail.  The Withlacoochee State Trail is another gem consisting of a 46-mile stretch of former railroad tracks that have been converted to a paved multi-use trail for hiking, jogging, horseback riding and bicycling.

The newest park addition -- Cooter Pond Linear Park -- gives visitors a chance to enjoy nature at its best. The park, featuring a boardwalk, scenic overlooks of the pond and fountain, children's activities and picnic areas, is within walking distance of government office buildings, the downtown historic district and 1912 Historic Courthouse.

For the safety and enjoyment of our patrons, and to the delight of canine owners, dogs are now permitted on the 3 1/2 mile perimeter trail of Whispering Pines Park. Other sections of and multi-use facilities within the park are managed to separate pets from general visitors, meaning dogs, cats, etc. are prohibited.

Pet walking is limited to the perimeter trail in Whispering Pines Park and is not allowed in in other areas or city parks operated by the City of Inverness.

Our Parks and Recreation staff is eager to assist visitors, so don't hesitate to contact us anytime by email or by dialing (352) 726-3913.
