City Council Meeting

Inverness, FLA –The next meeting of the Inverness City Council is slated for Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. at the Inverness Government Center, 212 W. Main Street, Inverness. With the latest recommendations for slowing the spread of COVID-19, the City is planning to hold a virtual meeting. Interested attendees can locate the link to the video on city’s website inverness-fl.gov.

The public may submit their questions to City Clerk Susan Jackson no later than 5 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2020 via email sjackson@Inverness-FL.gov or U.S. Mail to Inverness City Hall, 212 W. Main Street, Inverness, FL 34450. Please provide your full name and address along with your comments. If requested by the commenter, written comments will be read into the record at the appropriate time. Time limits will be enforced so written comments must be limited to three minutes for individuals and five minutes for groups/organizations. For assistance or information, contact City Clerk Susan Jackson at sjackson@inverness-fl.gov or 352-726-2611 ext. 1007.

City Services

Inverness City Hall is closed to general public access. Please call (352) 726-2611 for an appointment with department staff or to discuss city services. The City will continue to provide services such as trash pick-up, water, sewer, public works projects, building permits, public safety, and City Administration. Utility payments may be made at Inverness-FL.gov and at the drop box in front of City Hall.

Boating

This weekend, the city anticipates increased traffic on the boat ramps. It’s critically important that boaters continue to practice social distancing. All recreational boats must be at least 50 feet apart. Each boat must not have more than 10 people on board per the FWC Executive Order 20-09. The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Fish and Wildlife officers will have a presence at the boat ramps and on the water to enforce the distancing rules. The City encourages you to enjoy the lakes within COVID-19 guidelines.

Citrus County COVID-19 Cases Update

The Florida Department of Health Citrus County results for COVID-19 as of 12:00 p.m. on April 17, 2020:

Positive Cases and Tests*

Total cases in Citrus County: 82

33 in Inverness

12 in Crystal River

9 in Homosassa

7 in Lecanto

6 in Hernando

5 in Beverly Hills

4 in Dunnellon

4 in Citrus Springs

2 in Floral City

Of the 82 cases, 16 are travel-related, 64 are not travel-related and 2 are unknown

Of the 82 cases, 55 are contacts to a confirmed case, 7 are not contacts, 20 are unknown or still under investigation

The age group with the most cases: 55-64 (23 cases)

Total tests: 1,183

*While these numbers are provisional and subject to change, the number of cases reported in each county or municipality go off of the case’s home address, which is verified prior to release.
