Thirty-one children from the county Parks and Recreation Department's Summer Youth Camp program learned about the importance of protecting the environment and proper fishing July 16.
Members of TOOFAR, in partnership with the City of Inverness, taught the children how to better conserve water, protect the environment and about the types of fish that inhabit the local lakes system. Then the participants set out to the Wallace Brooks Park fishing pier to see if they could hook a fish.
A total of seven fish, including a catfish and several bluegill, were caught and released. Everyone had a great time.
The City would like to thank Dick's Sporting Goods in Ocala and the Inverness Wal-Mart for contributing gift cards to purchase supplies for the clinic.
