The City of Inverness will be offering the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Certification Class from June 2 - 4, 2017(Friday - Sunday) at Whispering Pines City Park Aquatic Facility from 8 am until 3:30 pm.
Required age for prospective students is 15 years old and you MUST attend all class sessions including the prerequisite skill session. The mandatory prerequisite skill check will be administered on Friday, May 19th from 3:30 - 4:00 pm at Whispering Pines City Park Aquatic Facility.
Lifeguarding can be a rewarding job opportunity helping to develop decision making and leadership skills as well as developing a sense of responsibility. The American Red Cross Lifeguarding class is designed to give those that successfully complete the course the ability to recognize and respond to emergencies in and around the pool environment. Students will have an understanding of patron surveillance, accident/injury prevention, CPR, AED and first aid as well as many other professional skills.
The cost for the Lifeguard Certification class is $145 and will include seven (7) hours of on-line course and twenty one (21) hours of class/pool skill learning. The fee does not include the manual which can be downloaded or ordered as a hard copy from www.redcross.org at $35 per copy. The fee does not include the Red Cross online registration fee of $35 which is paid by the participant to access the online portion of the class. The online registration is completed once the participant successfully completes the prerequisite portion of the course.
