Inverness St. Patrick’s Festival

Join the City of Inverness in its proud tradition of celebrating the green. Festivities kick-off with the DRC Sports Shamrock Scamper 5K at 4 p.m., and then it’s the St. Patrick’s Parade at 5:30 p.m. with the mutt strut. Then at 7 p.m. Shamrock the Block free concert featuring the Doerfels Band from Key West. Includes a pub crawl, prizes, leprechaun look-alike contest, vendors and more. Now accepting application for parade participants, to participate send us an email. Free and open to the public.

Inverness Big Bass Classic

Lake Henderson at Liberty Park, 286 N. Apopka Ave., Inverness
This bass fishing tournament draws anglers from across the state with its sizeable payout of $1,000 per hour. Plus, more payouts: $1,000 for the biggest bass of the day and $1,000 for the biggest bag. Total tournament payouts $10,000. Plus additional payouts from Skeeter Boats and Apopka Marine, see website for more information. Anglers may register online at or call 1-800-595-4849. Captain's Meeting at 7 a.m. and the first weigh-in starts at 9 a.m. Event is free to spectators--watch the action live at Liberty Park.

Taste of Inverness

This amazing local food experience combines the best of local dining in the name of supporting local nonprofits. New this year includes food bloggers judges Chef Dennis Littley of Ask Chef Dennis and World Food Championship Finalist Josee Lanzi of Off the Hook on the Plate. Schools Out! Rock the Park

This is calling Citrus County students in grades 5 to 8 to come out for the annual celebration just for the kids. The sound clash is a battle between DJ Trae Vance and DJ Redbeard to see who gets the crowd the loudest. Plus Dance contests, Food Trucks and new this year, the event has moved from downtown to Liberty Park. The event will feature the Rip Roarin’ Game Rig, a mobile video game truck, face painting and photo booth. All the activities are free.

Patriotic Evening

This celebration of Independence Day comes one day early by tradition and is not to be missed. This event captivates with a thrilling firework display over Lake Henderson. There will be live music, entertainment and food vendors. No coolers, umbrellas, tents, canopies or personal fireworks.

Pine Street Jam Parrot Head Party

Downtown historic Inverness is transformed into a Margaritaville-themed street party with live music, street performers, local restaurant and pub specials and a parrot-themed selfie scavenger hunt, ugliest Hawaiian shirt contest, games and more! The night will feature the well-loved songs of Jimmy Buffet performed by the ultimate tribute band, the Caribbean Chillers.

The Great American Cooter Festival

Inverness Festival of the Arts

This 2-day juried art show features over 100 artists and crafters. This year’s awards: Best of Show $1,000; Best of Division I-IV $350, Award of Excellence $250, Award of Merit $200; Division V First Place $150, Second Place $100 and Third Place $75. Farm City Festival

A celebration of local farmers, ranchers and growers that ties into the national observance of Farm City Week which precedes the Thanksgiving holiday. This event will host local food and natural product vendors, UF/IFAS extension, and 4H clubs. There will be live music, a tractor parade and petting zoo. Details will be announced mid-2016. 

Inverness Grand Prix and Motorsports Festival

The Inverness Grand Prix and Motorsports Festival is a unique event that allows street karts to race at high speeds through downtown Inverness. This event brings a large crowd down to visit the various shops and restaurants in the area. It is a family-friendly event with activities, car shows, vendors, and races throughout Saturday. Registration and entertainment will be announced mid-2016.
